About the Artist:

Raymond Li is a self-taught artist from Hong Kong specializing in portraits, gestures, landscapes, and outdoor sketching, with watercolor as his primary medium.
Raymond’s artistic journey began in 2017 when he discovered his passion for watercolor—a medium that, in his words, “found him.” Inspired by masters like Joseph Zbukvic and guided by mentors such as Mr. Loy Chye Chuan and, more recently, Mr. Ong Kim Seng, Raymond was captivated by watercolor’s transparency and luminous effects. For him, working with watercolor is like riding a spirited horse—challenging and sometimes painful, but ultimately rewarding, resulting in fresh, light, and beautifully spontaneous paintings.
Dedicated to spreading the joy of art, Raymond founded the Art Appreciation Club, a private community that brings together like-minded individuals from all walks of life, regardless of age, background, or artistic skill. The club hosts monthly gatherings where members share their work, exchange ideas, and learn from guest speakers on various art topics. In December 2023, the club organized a joint exhibition, From Invisible to Visible, at The Arts House, featuring 60 paintings by 20 international artists.
Currently, Raymond is hosting his first solo exhibition at NUSS, continuing to inspire others through his passion for watercolor.
