Creative Fundamentals is a series of affordable, accessible, and beginner-friendly workshops designed to introduce essential art techniques and equip participants with the tools to continue creating at their own pace.

Workshop Overview

New to printmaking? Start your creative journey with Monotype Printmaking in this introductory workshop! Learn the basics of monotype printing using a press and experiment with techniques like trace monotype, addition, subtraction, and stencils. No prior experience is required—just bring your curiosity and leave with 3-4 unique, hand-pulled prints.

In this 2-hour session, you will:

• Discover the World of Printmaking: Learn the fundamental techniques of monotype printmaking with a printing press.
• Create Your Own Prints: Make 3-4 original prints, experimenting with different techniques such as layering, subtraction, and stencils.
• Use Inspiring Reference Images: We’ll provide a series of simple reference images (think bold patterns, landscapes, and silhouettes) to help spark your ideas. You’re also welcome to bring your own printed A5 image for inspiration.
• Take Home Your Work: Walk away with a portfolio of your very own prints, ready for display.

Materials Provided for in-class use

• Printing Press & A5 Plexiglass Plates
• Printmaking Inks
• Rollers, Brushes, and Sponges
• Stencils and Tools for Mark-making
• Printmaking Paper
• A Selection of Reference Images (optional to use)
• Tracing Paper (for Trace Monotype)
