Discover the art of drypoint printmaking in this hands-on workshop, designed for artists and enthusiasts alike! In this session, you’ll learn how to create beautiful prints using this intaglio technique, which involves incising directly onto a plate and requires the use of a printing press to produce your final artwork.
This is the simplest and most direct manner to create an intaglio print, as it does not require any harsh chemicals or long process.
Traditionally, Copper Plate is used for drypoint, however the invention of plexiglass allow for a more carefree, and economical alternative.
Drypoint techniques can also be incorporated into monotype or etching prints.
What You’ll Learn:
- Creating Your Drypoint Plate
Explore materials such as plexiglass for making your drypoint plate. You'll learn how to incise your design onto the plate using various tools, achieving expressive and textured lines that hold ink in fine grooves. - Printing Your Masterpiece
Once your plate is prepared, you’ll use our A2 size etching press to print your design. Master inking techniques, registration methods, and how to produce high-quality intaglio prints. You'll leave with an edition of prints created during the workshop.

Conditions for Open Studio Use:
- Valid for three months after completion of course.
- The open studio session lasts 4 hours within our operation hours and must be booked at least 72 hours in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts with other activities.
- Bring your own materials (paper, inks, etc.) for additional printing.
- Studio access is limited to the printing press and prep tables.
- Open sessions are self-guided.
- Users will be inducted and agree to our Terms of Use, which includes safety brief, housekeeping, etc. It will be presented in writing and acknowledged by Signature.
